Christmas Movies for Kids

It's holiday time, it's merriment time, yup, it's Christmastime! For all you kids who would love to learn about the spirit of this season through some really good movies, this CelebrationJoy article will give you a list of some must-watch Christmas movies for kids.
Did You Know?
The world's first Christmas-themed movie was made in the year 1898, titled, 'Santa Claus'. Although its duration is only one minute, it was considered to be no less than a technological marvel back then.

Candies, sweets, gifts, Christmas tree, love of the family, snowy outdoors, warm and cozy indoors, and some splendid Christmas movies to enjoy! Gosh, what else can anyone wish for, on this special day? Yeah well, if only Santa could join you in your celebration. But as you know, there are other kids in the neighborhood waiting for him, and he does get very busy this time of the year. So, let the big old guy do his work while you sit near your fireplace, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the Christmas movies listed below.

A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
Based on the comic strip, Peanuts, this movie shows how Charlie Brown finds his way to the real spirit of Christmas, where initially he was depressed and unhappy because of how Christmastime had become―commercial. This 25-minute movie will help you realize the true meaning of Christmas, which has somewhat disappeared in the midst of the over-commercialization we see today. A must-watch for the entire family.

Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983)
This 24-minute short animated film is an adaptation of the famous classic, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Kids would love to see some of the most popular Disney's characters including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck, Goofy, Daisy Duck, and many more. The story tells about the miser McDuck, who apparently does not favor kindness or benevolence. With the help of Bob Cratchit (played by Mickey), and few other characters, Scrooge learns about the true meaning of Christmas.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
If you are a fan of stop motion-animated movies, then nothing beats this one. In the movie, there is a "Halloween Town", and then there is a "Christmas Town". Jack Skellington of Halloween Town, is the Pumpkin King, and he works to organize frightful celebration for the townsmen. But one day, he becomes bored of his mundane activities, and comes across Christmas Town. Our Pumpkin King is taken aback and so impressed with the feeling of Christmas, that he decides to keep Christmas as the holiday theme in his town, but with a twist. It also involves kidnapping Santa Claus. We don't want to be a spoiler here, so go ahead and watch the movie to know more.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Green with jealousy and meanness, is this character called 'Grinch' played by Jim Carrey, in this movie. Everyone in Whoville is busy preparing for the coming Christmas day, while the Grinch starts plotting some awful plans to stop the Christmastime merriment. He hates everything about Christmas―the songs, the Christmas tree, the closeness of the people, the feast of the Whoville, and their joy. With the efforts of a little girl named Cindy Lou, the Grinch finally realizes what it is like to be a part of Christmas celebrations.

The Polar Express (2004)
No fun is better than riding on the Polar Express this Christmas! Amazing animation and brilliant story for the kids to enjoy and learn about the true spirit of Christmas. On Christmas eve, a boy gets to take the most exciting journey of his life; a journey to the North Pole on the Polar Express. There, he meets Santa Claus, who chooses him to receive "The First Gift Of Christmas". Trust us, it will be great fun to take a ride on the Polar Express.

Merry Madagascar (2009)
For those who love the characters of the movie series Madagascar, this 30-minute film will be as exciting as this season. A lot of twists and turns have been given to the Christmas beliefs―a rivalry between penguins and reindeer? Santa's sleigh crashes in Madagascar, and leaves him with amnesia, while Alex, Marty, Gloria, and Melvin are trying to escape to New York. The four try to help Santa and try to use his sleigh to go back home, and in the process take Santa's responsibility and save Christmas.
